Douglas Gray was born in Harrogate in 1965. Before turning to fine art he worked as an illustrator for clients including Saatchi & Saatchi and Warner Bros, and painted book covers for Jackie Collins.
He paints figurative scenes and cityscapes in oil, with the focus always on light, mood and atmosphere.
He was elected a full member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 2013, and his commissioned painting Cloudbreak, River Thames hangs in the Savoy Hotel's River Room. He is represented by galleries in the UK, USA, Paris and Amsterdam.
