Alison Johnson grew up in Yorkshire before building a career as a nurse, an experience she credits with deepening her understanding of human emotion — something that now sits at the centre of her painting practice.
Working in oils with palette knives, brushes and expressive mark-making, she builds textured, layered seascapes and landscapes that favour feeling over literal representation. She lets each piece develop intuitively, prioritising mood, light and movement over strict accuracy to the scene in front of her.
Her Language of Water series is a recurring thread through her practice, alongside original artwork, limited edition prints, commission work and mini paintings created for interior designers.
