Linda Charles

British
Nationality:
A Suffolk-based artist whose richly textured, gold-leafed portraits reimagine classic songs as couture-inspired fine art.
Linda Charles is a British artist born in 1969 in the South East of England and now based in the Suffolk countryside. She studied textiles and fashion at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland before launching a full-time professional art career in the late 1990s, gaining wider recognition during the interior design boom of the early 2000s.
With a career spanning over 25 years, Charles has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally, in leading galleries in Brighton, London, Cirencester and the USA. Her work is held in numerous private collections, sold both as original artworks and as limited edition prints.
Her practice is built around rich texture and layered surfaces, incorporating gold and silver leaf into couture-influenced portraiture with Indian and East Asian aesthetic influences, alongside animal studies. Music and film provide a recurring throughline — she treats an iconic song or scene the way a couturier treats a garment, reworking it in texture, gilding and colour.
At Dane Manor Fine Art, that approach is best captured in her ReMastered series, which reimagines song titles including Let It Be, Love Is The Drug, Don't You Want Me and Mr Brightside as gold-leafed portrait pieces, available in both standard and Deluxe editions.
