Michael Sole

Dramatic, award-winning seascapes and landscapes in storm and gale.
Michael Sole graduated in Fine Art from Wimbledon College of Art in 2008.
He calls his approach Involuntaryism: dripping, pouring and throwing oils, bitumen and other media so that the paint behaves like the weather he is painting. His subject is nature in extreme circumstances, especially storms at sea.
He was the Royal Society of Marine Artists' Young Artist of the Year in 2009 and 2010, a Threadneedle Prize finalist and Evolver Prize runner-up in 2012, and won an Arts Club Charitable Trust Award in 2013. In 2017 he held a solo show of 24 paintings at the Mall Galleries in London.
He exhibits in England, France, the USA and Sweden. Dane Manor Fine Art holds a selection of his Studio Editions. Every piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
