Steven McLoughlin was born in Derbyshire in 1970 and still lives and works there. Self-taught, he has painted professionally for most of his adult life, first for publishers and commercial clients and now for himself.
He develops his paintings on location and finishes them in the studio, building up thin glazes of paint to create depth and luminosity.
The British countryside and coast are his subjects, and mood is everything: weather and light and the way they change a scene. Increasingly, he brings a sense of story and human activity into his landscapes.
His work has been shown at the Mall Galleries in London and in exhibitions across Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Norfolk and the Cotswolds. Dane Manor Fine Art holds a selection of his Studio Editions. Every piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
