Sue Howells RWS

British
Nationality:
Loose, spontaneous pure watercolours of Welsh and Midlands landscapes from a Royal Watercolour Society member.
Sue Howells was born in 1948 and works from her studio in Birmingham. She was elected an associate of the Royal Watercolour Society in 2016 and a full member in 2018.
She paints in pure watercolour, starting with loose washes and letting the brushstrokes guide the composition, keeping detail to a minimum and letting the paper shine through. As she puts it, one bad stroke and all is lost, because pure watercolour cannot be repaired or repainted.
Her landscapes draw on Pembrokeshire, the Brecon Beacons, the Clent Hills and the Black Country. In 2008 she won the Solomon and Whitehead Award and was named the best-selling published artist in the UK by the Fine Art Trade Guild.
Dane Manor Fine Art holds a selection of her limited editions, including diptych and triptych pieces. Every piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
