Zinsky

British
Nationality:
An anonymous, London-born portrait artist whose richly layered paintings of icons — from Bowie to a DeLorean — trade on mystery as much as skill.
Zinsky is the working name of a British artist, born in London, who has deliberately kept his real identity out of the public eye — rarely giving interviews or making public appearances, and letting the work speak for itself instead.
Initially self-taught, he went on to study at St Martin's School of Art in London before spending several years travelling across Europe and North America, an experience that fed directly into his mature style: masterful use of light and shadow, and layered colour built up into rich, textured surfaces.
His subjects range from realistic portraits of iconic figures — Marilyn Monroe and David Bowie among them — to everyday people encountered on the street, and increasingly to the iconic objects of pop culture itself: cars, album covers, cultural touchstones rendered with the same painterly intensity as a portrait. His work has been exhibited in galleries from London to New York and sits in private collections worldwide.
At Dane Manor Fine Art, his collection includes Definitely Maybe, Delorean DMC 12, DB5, Ecto 1 and Tupac.
