Benoit Havard

French
Nationality:
A French painter whose luminous, palette-knife cityscapes of London and New York have found their way into the Louis Vuitton collection.
Benoît Havard was born in 1981 in Orléans, France, and started drawing and painting at the age of six. He enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts de Cherbourg in 1998, studying under Lejeune and Valadié, and was painting full time by the age of nineteen.
His early work explored watercolours during travels to Morocco before he settled into the oils and palette-knife technique that define his mature style. He has exhibited across Europe since 2004, building a body of work in private collections worldwide — including that of Louis Vuitton.
Havard's dreamy, luminescent urban landscapes come from photographing real cityscapes and reworking their emotional power in paint — what he describes as bringing the subject into his own world. London and New York are recurring subjects, from Westminster and St Paul's to the Diamond District.
At Dane Manor Fine Art, his collection includes Diamond District, NYC, Parliament Square, London Lights, Crossing The Streets Of NYC and The View From The Southbank.
