In Angelo Tommaso, an angel takes shape amid drips and washes of paint that run down the surface. The expressive texture balances fragility and strength, creating a contemplative, deeply atmospheric piece.
Angelo Tommaso is a limited edition print by Carl Melegari, a Welsh-born, Bristol-based painter whose semi-abstract portraits build contemplative figures from dense, textured oil paint. His work is built around the human form, rendered in a semi-abstract style that leans on the physicality of paint itself — dense pigment, liberal application, and layered surfaces that give each figure real textural depth.
