A horse breaks into full gallop in Born Free, its form built from sweeping, energetic strokes. Pretorius balances realism with abstraction, so the painting feels alive with speed, freedom and the thunder of hooves.
Born Free is a limited edition print by Frank Pretorius, a South African-born, UK-based painter who brings a filmmaker's eye for movement and light to wildlife and equestrian portraiture. He studied graphic design, fine art and filmmaking, then spent close to two decades working in advertising and film before relocating to the UK and turning to painting full time.
