A tiger's face emerges from layered, expressive brushwork in Strength Within. The focused gaze and bold contrasts convey quiet determination, capturing the inner power the title suggests.

The tiger looks straight out of the canvas, its eyes sharply detailed, while its face is built up in strokes of burnt orange, cream and black that blend into the cool blues and teals of the background. Pretorius lets the edges of the image dissolve into loose, sweeping paint, giving the portrait a sense of movement. At 90 x 90 cm, this large canvas is a commanding statement piece for a living room, office or hallway.

Strength Within is a limited edition print by Frank Pretorius, a South African-born, UK-based painter who brings a filmmaker's eye for movement and light to wildlife and equestrian portraiture. That filmmaking background still shows: Pretorius describes his approach as capturing the moment where paint, canvas and a digital film frame meet, building dynamic, movement-led compositions with real depth of field.
