The peaceful Small Sanctuary figure is reimagined in the Urban Can series, here as a paper edition. Street-art styling and soft Japanese motifs meet, offering a moment of calm with a contemporary edge.

The figure kneels in a deep blue kimono patterned with blossom, painted onto the curved body of a spray can with a green cap, against a clean cream background. Butterflies and a tiny hummingbird flutter around the can, and touches of gold and red add warmth. The combination of a street-art object and traditional Japanese imagery is what makes the Urban Can series so distinctive. At 70 x 50 x 10 cm, it is a striking, contemporary piece for a hallway, study or bedroom, and a great introduction to The Trunk Of Funk's work.

Small Sanctuary Urban Can - Paper Edition is a limited edition print by The Trunk Of Funk, a Macclesfield-based mixed media artist layering photography, gold leaf and Japanese textile motifs into intricately detailed contemporary works. Described as an emerging mixed media artist, he has been gathering increasing interest from contemporary art collectors in the UK and abroad.
