A muscle-bound cartoon sailor clutches an oversized can of spinach soup in this playful pop art homage. Bright reds and creamy whites recall classic sixties screen prints, with a knowing wink at comic-strip nostalgia.
Popeye Loves Soup is a limited edition print by Sannib, released in an edition of 75. Sannib trained in graphic design in Aleppo and worked in advertising in Kuwait, the UAE and London before turning to art. His mixed media portraits of twentieth-century icons layer graphic elements, paint and texture with golden, earthy tones and the blues of sea and sky.
