Martin Robson

British
Nationality:
Big cats and wildlife painted with precise detail, dramatic light and an arresting gaze.
Martin Robson was born in 1969 and grew up near Cannock Chase in Staffordshire. He studied graphic design at Stafford Art College and Wolverhampton University, then spent 25 years in commercial art and creative design before becoming a full-time fine artist. He now lives near Lichfield.
He works mainly in acrylic on canvas, building each painting in layers from carefully chosen photographic references, with close attention to texture, tone and reflected light. His subjects sit close to the picture plane, so the animal's gaze holds the viewer.
Big cats are his best-known subjects, alongside elephants, wolves, birds and British wildlife, often caught in moments of stillness rather than movement.
Dane Manor Fine Art holds his limited editions, deluxe editions and studies, including The King, The Prince and The Silent Warrior. Every piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
