Pearl presents a zebra in striking close-up, her bold stripes broken up by vivid splatters of colour. The careful detail around the eyes gives her a gentle, knowing expression, while the expressive mark-making adds a lively, contemporary energy.
Pearl is a limited studio edition by Joe Galindo, released in an edition of 50. Joe Galindo is a Leeds-based wildlife painter, born in Mirfield, West Yorkshire. Working in acrylic, inks, spray paint and layered mark-making, he balances carefully detailed eyes with loose lines, splashes and bold colour, so every animal comes across with real character.
